My Safe Place is a directive therapy activity that can help children and adolescents identify the things they have and/or need to feel safe, secure, loved and happy at home. While I have designed it for children who have experienced developmental trauma, abuse, or neglect and who are adopted, fostered, or living in out-of-home care, it can be used with all children to help build emotional expression and regulation; self-identity and self-advocacy; and a sense of safety, connection and belonging with their caregivers.
